About Our Coach
My name is Craig Nevils. I am from the Beaumont area, but have made Sealy my home for the last 8 years. I am married and have 2 girls and a boy; my daughters are fully active in softball and my son plays soccer. I have been involved in sports since the age of 5, playing baseball into high school, rode bulls and played adult softball throughout my high school years up until joining the U.S. Army in 1999. While serving in Germany, I competed on a company level softball team as a middle infielder and finished as the number 2 team in Germany. Shortly after the 9/11 tragedy, I was called to serve overseas in Iraq for multiple deployments with a Special Operations unit and Infantry battalions. These missions instilled many traits and core values that I always carry with me. I learned that success is accomplished with mental toughness, a never quit attitude, strong work ethic and the willingness to adapt to change.
I have been coaching softball for the last 11 years. I coached 6U-12U at a rec level and have been coaching at the select/travel ball level from 10U-16U. I was a head coach with the Katy Cruisers Gold, Texas Elite Gold STX, Hustle Premier STX organizations and currently a coach for the Firecrackers HTX organization. Throughout the duration of coaching, I attended countless seminars, clinics, and classes to be more proficient and up to date on the growth of fastpitch softball and the new technology and methods. Fastpitch Softball continues to evolve as a highly competitive sport and is constantly changing from technology, methods, to recruiting. I am currently a level 4 coach with USA/ASA softball, clear background, and Safesport certified. I am endorsed and certified through the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) in Softball Fastpitch Pitching and Hitting. In addition, I have completed courses with rotational movement, mental toughness, and defensive positions. I will be giving lessons at the Advanced Athletics facility by appointment. I look forward to working with new athletes and helping them pursue their passion.
