About Our Coach
My name is Joe Morrow and I live in Columbus, TX. I’m married and have a daughter attending college at UMHB.
From 1990 through 2002, I played Men’s Softball competitively while working as a Structural Designer in the construction industry. My personal playing experience in Softball ranges from Men’s Class D through Men’s Class A/AA/Major.
Most of my coaching experience has been through Columbus Softball Little League, working with kids from T-Ball through Juniors (5-14 years). Over the years, I’ve served as a Team Manager and Assistant Coach for many Columbus Softball “League” and “All-Star Teams”. I’ve also served as part of the Coaching Staff for the Columbus Force Softball Travel Team.
My greatest success as coach, however, has to be my daughter, Taylor. She’s played various sports her entire life with a focus on volleyball, track and softball in high school. Taylor was a regular starter and played varsity softball all four years at Columbus High School. She achieved 1st Team All-District Shortstop during her Junior and Senior years. She also played 3 years varsity Volleyball and was honored with ‘Newcomer of the Year’ as a sophomore. As a Junior, she was named 2nd Team Volleyball All-District. And in her Senior year, she was named District MVP and achieved many All-State Honors. She is currently playing beach volleyball for UMHB.
I’m very detailed orientated, have a strong passion for athletics and really enjoy coaching and mentoring young players of all ages. I appreciate the opportunity to share my experience, knowledge, and skills, not just as a coach, but competitively from a player’s perspective as well.
Just remember, often competitive sports can sometimes begin to feel like a job, and you can get bored and start to get lost in it. While it’s important to grow and build your skills, it’s also important to understand that you should never stop having fun -- building friendships, focusing on sportsmanship and ultimately being a good teammate in the end.
